The goal of the module

Bamboo Glocal Village is a workshop module that motivates participants to rediscover their culture and encourage innovation by creating miniature bamboo works for our virtual community that brings together different bamboo cultures from all over the world.

This module is designed to be applicable to anyone regardless of skill and knowledge, generation or geographical conditions.

​Please follow these steps shown below and feel free to customize it to meet the needs of your Schools/community.

Requirement

Participants 
  • Students (strongly recommended)
  • Local people (mixed generation)

*If possible, ask the help of bamboo skilled/ knowledge people
*Tools are needed
*Organizers should record time during the workshop. They stay as observers. 

Steps

0. Orientation
  • Explain the concrete definition about “mix of tradition and innovation.”
  • Show Video/ Photo from the past workshop if possible.​
1. Research
​Know about bamboo cultures.
WHAT
  • Usage of bamboo in your community. (Now/Then)
  • Folktales related to bamboo.
  • Bamboo species and their geographical distribution in your area.
  • New ways of using bamboo.
2. Plan
​THEME: “Dream house”

CONDITIONS
  • Suggested size of the house : Minimum A4 (210mm x 297mm/ 8.27" inch x 11.69")
  • Recommended to use natural and environmentally friendly materials that you can get from your environment with bamboo as a main material. 
  • Planning session is recommended to be done by students only.

  1. Title of the house 
  2. What you learned (Skills and wisdom of how to use bamboo, teamwork)

  • Fill out the worksheet to explain your work. (Title/Summary of what you planned on Step2, etc.)

​Be a part of the Glocal Bamboo Village. 
HOW
  1. Take pictures of your houses (and worksheet)
  2. Submit report to BGV
